Perfect for all ages, visitors will be introduced to great pioneers like Jean-Francois Champollion whose ground-breaking work on deciphering the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, enriched our knowledge of human history by 3,000 years. Telling the story of objects central to the efforts to decipher the hieroglyphs, the exhibition will include an extract from the Book of the Dead belonging to the priestess, Nestanebetisheru to a large limestone lintel revealing the hieroglyphic name of the great Pharoah Ramses III. Egyptian hieroglyphs will take visitors on a journey of discovery, uncovering the central role hieroglyphs played in the lives and deaths of the ancient Egyptians.
