Uncover the ancient Egyptian fascination with the afterlife.
Over 100 objects and 8 actual mummies are on display in this exhibition, exploring how ancient Egyptian civilisations were both fascinated and obsessed by the notion of life after death. The exhibition particularly explores the Greco-Roman period, when Egypt was ruled first by a Greek royal family, followed by Cleopatra and ending with Roman emperors.
Uncover art and objects that demonstrate the elaborate preparations this ancient society made for the afterlife, underpinned by a combination of Egyptian, Greek and Roman ideas of eternity.
This is the first exhibition to take place in the museum’s brand-new Exhibition Hall following a major transformation.
