Behind the Scenes: Building Conservation Tour

28 March 2026
11:00 to 13:00
£15

Enjoy a guided tour around the Ulster Folk Museum focusing on the conservation of historic buildings.

Get behind the scenes at the Ulster Folk Museum and discover the work that goes on to maintain and conserve our unique collections of buildings.

Join Built Heritage and Capital Projects Manager, Katherine McClean, for a special guided tour exploring the important work that goes on and the challenges that are faced when looking after these buildings.

Many of the buildings in our collection were moved from their original location and rebuilt on site as early as the 1960s - some of the buildings date as far back as the mid-1700s!

Look at fascinating examples of heritage building techniques such as thatching and lime parging, see conservation work in action and get a behind-the-scenes tour of buildings that the public don't normally get to access!
