The Scottish Maritime Museum brings back the ever-popular Glass Workshops with a programme of Spring sessions.
The Scottish Maritime Museum on Irvine Harbourside brings back the ever-popular Glass Workshops with a fresh programme of Spring sessions running from March to May.
The workshops offer participants the chance to experience the excitement of shaping molten glass using a live flame and take their creations home.
The programme has been designed to suit everyone, from absolute beginners keen to try a captivating new craft to seasoned glass artists looking for fresh inspiration.
Participants can choose from two workshop options, both of which take place against the stunning setting of the vast, glass roofed Linthouse – a two hour introductory workshop and an extended half-day session.
The two-hour Spring Glassblowing Workshops are ideal for those learning the basics and run from 2pm – 4pm on Wednesdays, between 4 March and 6 May. Tickets are priced £60 per person.
For those seeking a more immersive experience, the four-hour Hands On Glassblowing Workshops run from 10am – 2pm on Saturdays from 7 March to 9 May.
At these sessions, participants can craft decorative pieces such as perfume bottles, glass candles and flowers and tickets cost £120 per person.
All sessions are limited to two participants to ensure safety and the best experience.
The Spring Glass Workshops have once again been developed in collaboration with Robert McLeod, a Fellow of The British Society of Scientific Glassblowers (BSSG).
As well as offering his expert guidance during the sessions, Robert will share the story of the endangered craft of flameworking - also known as scientific glassblowing.
Places can be booked on Eventbrite.
