Scrooge: In Concert

13 December 2025
16:00 & 19:00
£35

Experience the magic of Christmas with a live music concert of the 1950s classic film Scrooge.

Performed by the three-piece FB Pocket Orchestra, this newly orchestrated live score brings this beloved Christmas tale of redemption and goodwill alive with enchanting sounds.

Immerse yourself in Scrooge’s journey (played by the legendary Alastair Sim) through atmospheric sound effects and enjoy the epic backdrop of the neo-classical Chapel of St Peter & St Paul’s.

About the score

After the film’s release in 1950, the studio threw away the orchestral sheet of music, as was the custom of the time. Paul Stevenson, arranger and musical director of the FB Pocket Orchestra, has painstakingly transcribed Richard Adam’s score and rebuilt it line by line. And now, for the very first time, it will be performed live in concert.

About FB Pocket Orchestra

FB Orchestra are a trio of musicians dedicated to delivering engaging, inventive performances that captivate and inspire. With thoughtful arrangements, skilled transcriptions, and meticulous attention to detail, they bring their distinctive sound to every project.

As a small ensemble, they thrive on the intimacy and focus their format provides, crafting experiences that are both personal and impactful. From reimagining classic film scores to developing innovative instrumental projects, each performance is a testament to their passion for quality, creativity, and connection.

Whether on stage or in the studio, they aim to create moments that resonate deeply, leaving lasting impressions through their artistry and expertise.

About the Chapel of St Peter & St Paul

The concert takes place in the beautiful Chapel of St Peter & St Paul, part of Sir Christopher Wren’s original design for the Royal Hospital for Seamen at Greenwich. After a devastating fire, the Chapel was rebuilt in 1779 by James ‘Athenian’ Stuart. With its richly decorated ceiling, naval themes, and exceptional altarpiece painted by ‘the Raphael of America’, Benjamin West, it is evident why the Chapel is now regarded as one of the finest neo-classical interiors in existence.
