Join us for a festive evening with popular guest speaker Sheelagh James, as she delves into the fascinating ways the British have celebrated, and sometimes skipped, Christmas over the centuries.

From kissing boughs and Christmas crackers to mistletoe, yule logs, mince pies, and the arrival of the Christmas tree, explore how traditions evolved, disappeared, and re-emerged to shape the season we know today.

It’s the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit!

Tickets include a glass of wine or soft drink, plus a delicious mince pie.

Tickets cost £14 per person. Pre-booking is essential, spaces are limited. Tickets are non-refundable.

Please note – this event is not suitable for children under the age of 14. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The event will be held on the first floor of the museum, accessible only by stairs. Due to the building’s Grade I listed status, we are unable to install a lift or ramp, widen doorways, or modify the handrails. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
