In this workshop, Luisa Duarte ARC will talk about looking after waterlogged leather objects – whether from the Thames or further afield.
This workshop will involve a presentation discussing what to do from the moment waterlogged leather is found, some advice on how to dry it and how to best store them to ensure their long-term survival.
There'll be opportunities to ask questions and get to look at some storage options and leather under the microscope.
This event is run in partnership with ICON Archaeology Group (Institute of Conservation) and CIFA Finds group (Chartered Institute of Conservation).

Exclusions and safety measures
The safety measures n place include the option to book a free ticket in advance to manage capacity, and free-standing hand sanitiser stations at key touch points and entrances. Screens will remain in place at welcome desks, till points and food services, and there will be a continued enhanced cleaning regime throughout all our galleries.
