Join Katie Ackrill, one of the curators of A Very British Art Revolution, for an informal curator tour of the exhibition. This tour will focus on how and why artists embraced modern approaches to art making in early 20th Century Britain. Discover ground-breaking artists who turned away from traditional painting, to find new creative languages that were better suited to a fast-paced modern era. Their work pushed at the boundaries of Victorian values at a time of social and political upheaval, causing public controversy, but revolutionising British art forever.
The tour will cover advocates of modernism in the Bloomsbury Group and the Camden Town Group and explore artists who dared to explore abstraction. It will include work by Vanessa Bell, Spencer Gore, Duncan Grant, Gwen John, Ben Nicholson and Henry Moore.
