Meeting of the Young Archaeologists' Club
The Surrey Archaeological Society has invited us to help with their test-pit excavations at Albury park. Unlike larger excavations, test pits are small (1mx1m) individual trenches that allow you to get a snapshot over a large area and are especially helpful when wanting to excavate in occupied areas.
Before the date we will send you a detailed information sheet on what to expect, but please be aware of the physical nature of this work. The children will be using tools such as trowels, shovels and buckets. Parents can stay with their children or drop them off and go for a walk around the park.
We ask that for this activity, only children who have previously been to a Young Archaeologists Club meeting book onto this activity. After this our next meeting will be in the new academic year in September.
Location: Albury Park, Guildford, Surrey, GU5 9BB – parking in front of the church.
