A Talk by Hugh Brewster, author of A Story of a Painting, followed by floral hair wreaths making workshop with Shellie
A Talk by Hugh Brewster, author of A Story of a Painting, followed by floral hair wreaths making workshop with Shellie @The Broadway Florist
Join author Hugh Brewster as he recreates a time when the summer charms of Broadway drew a lively group of artists to work and play here. With paintings, sketches and photographs from his award-winning book Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose: The Story of a Painting, he relates how John Singer Sargent created his masterpiece, as seen through the eyes of 6 year old Kate Millet, the first model for the painting.
The song from which Sargent drew his title is revealed in a special recording.
Learn about the great birthday party at the Lygon Arms to which the guests all made their own flower hair wreaths from Lily’s garden!
Children are invited to join a 30/45 minute workshop to make their very own real flower wreaths to wear home and impress their friends and family.
A treat for all ages.
Book signing to follow.
The hair wreath making workshop will follow instantly at the end of the talk and Hugh Brewster will be signing copies of his acclaimed book in the adjacent space.
