Enjoy a rare chance to visit the spectacular 18th-century Mausoleum, described as one of the finest buildings of its kind in northern Europe.

This is a rare opportunity to enjoy private areas of the Estate on foot, walking through over 300 years of history in our spectacular 18th-century landscape.

The tour departs from the Courtyard at 10am and lasts around 2.5 hours. Reduced Members price is available for this event.

Please note that this tour will encounter staircases and is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users. Our other tours, such as the Sculpture (Grand) Tour or Castle Howard’s 21st Century Renaissance Tour are accessible for wheelchair users.

This includes access to the Gardens on the day of your tour.

Opening times

The Gardens and Skelf Island Adventure Playground are open daily, from 10am (9am for Friends of Castle Howard) with last admission to the Gardens at 4pm.

The House opens to visitors from 18th April 2025. A visit in 2025 promises a grand reveal of a once-in-a-generation project transforming the House interiors, including restoring the lost Tapestry Drawing Room.

National Art Pass holders are entitled to a 50% discount on inclusive House and Grounds admission. Admission for all of our affiliate schemes can be redeemed on the day at the Ticket Office by presenting a valid membership card or proof of entitlement.
