Special Event

Folk at the New Room: Eleven Magpies

18 July 2024
7.30pm (café bar open from 6pm, doors 7pm)
£16

This newish Bristol acoustic quartet met doing music for theatre and features Wise Children / Kneehigh MD Ian Ross and Alex Vann of Spiro and 3CW.

Led by Bristol-based composer, multi-instrumentalist and music director Ian Ross (Wise Children, Kneehigh), the band features Alex Vann (Spiro, Three Cane Whale), Elizabeth Westcott (Yesterday’s Camel) and James Gow (Jow).

Together, they chart a whirling journey of plucked and bowed strings, through humorous miniatures and sorrowful madrigal-esque beauty, then up into unexpected flights that come to land in moments of serene stillness.

An evening of acoustic music by candlelight inspired by theatrical travels and reflections on grief, faith and joy.

7.30pm - door 7pm. Join us 6-7pm for our informal folk music session in the cafe-bar.

Tickets £16 / £14 advance Included in Spring-Summer Season 2024 Ticket (6 gigs for £75)
