Free to all

A free CPD session to explore ways of using local heritage in the classroom to inspire learning across the curriculum.

The National Horseracing Museum, Suffolk Archives, and Historic England are delighted to invite teachers and trainee teachers from your school to a free CPD session to explore ways of using local heritage in the classroom to inspire learning across the curriculum.

The day will include:

· Advice on how you can find local migration stories and weave them into your local history teaching

· A focused session on Jewish refugees who found sanctuary in Newmarket during the Second World War

· A case study of current work at Laureate Community Academy to explore and record migration stories within the school’s past and present

The session will have a focus on Newmarket, but the content and approaches will also be relevant for schools elsewhere.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided as will a pack of historic maps and aerial photos of Newmarket.

Heritage Schools is also offering a contribution (up to £130) towards cover costs for one teacher from your school to attend this CPD event
