An illustrated talk about the secret amphibious tanks that were used during the second world war.
80 years on from their use, Stuart Burgess will be giving an illustrated talk about the secret amphibious tanks that were used during the second world war for D-Day and river crossing operations.
Stuart formerly managed Fritton Lake where the Duplex Drive Tank crews trained during 1943. The tanks were modified with canvas screens and propellers to enable them to float. You will see rare photographs, military films and hear about the development of these specialised weapons and their effectiveness during the War.
