A day of performances, workshops and inspiration.
Forge Festival 2024 is an ambitious young person-led festival with young creatives and early career artists from across Cumbria all performing exciting pieces of original live performance in response to the theme ‘Our Human Connection to the Natural World’.
Young people have engaged in The Knotted Project’s specialist co-creation process to create bold and dynamic performance pieces including physical theatre, dance, music & film, to be performed in unusual and outdoor spaces at Abbot Hall.
This year’s festival will also include opportunities for audiences to get involved with engaging creative workshops and inspiring discussions about the environment and what it means to us.
This year The Knotted Project are also working with some amazing schools across Cumbria for their first Forge Schools Performance Day. Students from Sandgate School, Whitehaven Academy and Keswick School will visit Abbot Hall in May for an exciting day to perform their original work, take part in a Gallery tour and watch our Early Career Artists in action.
Forge Festival takes place on Saturday 4 May 10-4pm at Abbot Hall.
Entry is free with a gallery admission ticket.
Forge Festival is supported using public funding by The National Lottery through Arts Council England. It is also supported by local partners including Lakeland Arts, Brewery Arts, Barrow Full, Rosehill Theatre, North Yorkshire Council, Wave Forward and Centre for Social Futures at Lancaster University.
