Our Explorers workshop focuses on the story of an explorer from Torquay: Frank Browning who was part of Captain Scott's team in the race to the South Pole.

Our Explorers workshop focuses on the story of an explorer from Torquay: Frank Browning who was part of Captain Scott's team in the race to the South Pole.

The children learn about the lives of Polar Explorers; looking at habitats, adaptations, investigating ice cores, and also taking part in a carousel of hands-on activities including object handling and STEAM challenges.

The workshop is aimed at children in KS1. Each family group requires a participating adult to remain with the children throughout.

Prompt 10.15am Health and Safety/Introduction, workshop until 12.15pm. Lunch space available afterwards for those who wish to spend time exploring the museum after their workshop.

The maximum number of children per session 15, with a minimum of 12 children required for a session to run. Cost £5 per child, adults free. Must be booked in advance. Each person attending requires a valid museum ticket. Torquay Museum tickets last for a whole year - 20 % discount for those living with a TQ postcode.

Opening times

The Museum is open Monday to Saturday 10am - 4.45pm, last entry at 4.15pm until 30th September.

During the winter months 1st October onwards, the Museum will be open Tue, Wed, Thurs and Sat from 10am - 4.45pm, last admissions at 4.15pm.
