North Lincolnshire Museum is inviting budding historians and archaeologists (aged 8-12 years old) to join our new club.

North Lincolnshire Museum is inviting budding historians and archaeologists (aged 8-12 years old) to join our new club.

Children will explore the world of archaeology, develop their understanding of local history, learn new skills and get hands on with artefacts.

Sessions will be led by an experienced member of our learning team and will be held on the final Saturday of each month (except December) between 1pm and 3pm, at the museum.

Sessions must be booked online and the attendance agreement must be completed and returned to the team before their first session.

30 September. Let's get muddy

  • An introduction to the club and soil testing.

28 October. The Big Draw

  • Using our artistic skills to complete observational drawings of artefacts.

25 November. Take care

  • Exploring conservation of artefacts - from the dig to display.

27 January. Piece it together

  • Reconstructing our own broken 'artefacts'.

24 February. On the record

  • Cataloguing artefacts with photos and data.

23 March. Keeping it safe

  • How securely can you package your 'find'?

Exclusions and safety measures

We have maintained the usual Covid 19 precautions.

There are layouts which encourage social distancing, hand sanitiser is availbe at the entrance and in the vuene.

All staff wear a face covering, and in line with government guideance, customers are enocuraged to wear a face covering in enclosed spaces and where people are, they don't usually meet.

We have extra doors and windows open for ventilation.

There is a one way system in place, but to allow access for visitors who may need to use the lift for mobility issues, or those with very young children in prams, you may have to give way to those customers who will being going against the one way system.
