A family home transformed into a projects space, artist led, BasementArtsProject brings experimental art to its local community in Leeds.

Established in 2011, BasementArtsProject programmes sophisticated art projects at the heart of a deprived community in South Leeds, while also being a testbed for experimental emerging and established artists.

BasementArtsProject is a vibrant living gallery space in the basement of a family home. Alongside this, they have regenerated a nearby urban space which had fallen into disrepair transforming it into a sculpture park for local residents. Known as ‘The Corner’ Pocket Sculpture Park, its focal point is ‘Jacob’s Ladder’, a 9ft stone sculpture by the artist Keith Ackerman.
