Megan Rooney debuts new work in her first major solo exhibition in the UK
Megan Rooney, born in South Africa in 1985, is set to showcase new paintings in her debut UK solo exhibition at Kettle’s Yard. The exhibition includes a temporary mural on gallery walls and new canvas works, embodying the vibrancy of abstraction.
Rooney's paintings, created in 'family groups,' showcase boundless colour and line, capturing the dynamic process of their creation. The canvases' size is determined by her outstretched arms, and each work invites viewers into a compelling, poetic narrative — blending the real, remembered, and imagined. Curated by Andrew Nairne and Amy Tobin, the exhibition includes a new performance work and an illustrated publication.
