Models of the ships, tanks, aircraft and weaponry used by the Allied forces on D Day.
7 – 9 Jun, exquisite examples of the model maker’s art will be on public display in the Lancashire Infantry Museum at Fulwood Barracks to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D Day in 1944. The exhibition features work of two groups, the North-West Model Shipwrights and the International Plastic Modelling Society – Lancashire. On display will be the ships, tanks, aircraft and weaponry used by the Allied forces to prepare for the invasion and to fight their way off the D-Day beaches of Normandy in World War II. Every one of the dozens of models on display is an exact representation, complete down to the most intricate detail, of a ship, vehicle, machine or weapon which saw active service during the campaign. Many of the models are scratch built from plans using basic material.
