A major group exhibition of contemporary artists from the African diaspora exploring the representation of the Black figure in art.
Curated by Ekow Eshun, The Time is Always Now brings together leading artists from the African diaspora to show how figurative art illuminates the richness and complexity of Black life.
Featuring Michael Armitage, Lubaina Himid, Kerry James Marshall, Toyin Ojih Odutola and Amy Sherald, the show explores the presence and absence of the Black figure in Western art history, considering the social, psychological and cultural contexts in which they were produced.
