Discover a contemporary artist who explores connections between sound and painting to explore Whitechapel's migrant communities
Interdisciplinary artist and experimental music producer Andrew Pierre Hart delves into the history and communities of Whitechapel through sound and painting.
With reference to the local migrant and diasporic communities, Hart has created a film shot on the streets surrounding Whitechapel Gallery, a series of six new oil paintings, a site-specific mural and a bamboo sculpture. The vibrations of the film's soundtrack can be felt through the speaker system embedded in the gallery space's seating, reflecting what Hart calls, 'he quotidian rhythm of Whitechapel… its vibrant rumble and dissonant past'.
