University of York, Borthwick Institute for Archives
The Borthwick Institute is an archive of historic records, in particular those relating to the diocese of York; the York NHS Trust; the business archives of Rowntree Mackintosh, Terry's and Vickers Scientific Instuments; the archives of the Earls of Halifax and other family and estate papers; and the Atkinson Brierly Collection of architectural plans.
To view records an appointment should be made with the archive searchroom. The institute is part of the University of York.

Opening times
The Borthwick Institute for Archives is open by appointment for research visits.
Monday - Wednesday 10am - 4pm.
Please note that the search room and microfilm room is closed between 12.30pm to 1.30pm
For the safety of our visitors and staff, we are limiting the number of appointments available.
There are two bookable sessions each day from 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm.
All-day appointments are available subject to availability.
