Designated as being of national significance, the museum has the best Bronze Age collections in the country, including material from Stonehenge and Avebury.

The museums holds an important research library and art collection relating to the history and archaeology of Wiltshire.

Galleries include Telling Wiltshire’s Story, which recreates 500,000 years of the county's history through cutting-edge graphics and reconstructions. There is also a display of spectacular treasures dating to the time of Stonehenge and jewellery worn by people who worshipped inside the stone circle.

Mon – Sat, 10am – 5pm Sun, 12noon – 4pm Jan – Easter closed on Mondays (except half term)
If making a special or long distance journey, please check with us beforehand that we will be open.
As an independent museum with a small staff we occasionally have to close at short notice.
