Designated as being of national significance, the museum has the best Bronze Age collections in the country, including material from Stonehenge and Avebury.

The museums holds an important research library and art collection relating to the history and archaeology of Wiltshire.

Galleries include Telling Wiltshire’s Story, which recreates 500,000 years of the county's history through cutting-edge graphics and reconstructions. There is also a display of spectacular treasures dating to the time of Stonehenge and jewellery worn by people who worshipped inside the stone circle.

Monday to Saturday: 10am to 5pm; Sundays 11am to 3pm.

Closed Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June and Sunday 5 June.

Pre-booking a ticket is recommended - online ticket sales close at 9am on the day of entry.

If you do not pre-book there may be a short delay if the galleries are busy.
