Designated as being of national significance, the museum has the best Bronze Age collections in the country, including material from Stonehenge and Avebury.

The museums holds an important research library and art collection relating to the history and archaeology of Wiltshire.

Galleries include Telling Wiltshire’s Story, which recreates 500,000 years of the county's history through cutting-edge graphics and reconstructions. There is also a display of spectacular treasures dating to the time of Stonehenge and jewellery worn by people who worshipped inside the stone circle.

The Museum is now open 10 am to 5 pm - closed 1 pm - 2 pm for cleaning during shift change.

June - Wednesday to Saturday

July - Tuesday to Saturday

August - Monday to Saturday, and Sundays (noon to 4pm)
