The museum is set in the beautiful surroundings of Pannett Park.
Highlights include fossils, ship models, Captain Cook material, scientific instruments, ethnography, local history, archaeology and natural history, jet jewellery, a herbarium and an extensive collection of local maps.There is also a programme of special exhibitions and events, and families can follow a trail which takes them on a voyage around the museum and a tour of the newly-restored Pannett Park.
In the same building is the Pannett Art Gallery, showing work by the Staithes Group of artists and the Weatherill family of watercolourists.
