The university's fascinating collection of art, science and natural history is displayed at venues across the campus.
The collections encompass art, science, medicine and natural history. They are shown to the public via an exhibition programme in the Tower Foyer & Lamb Galleries, and there are permanent displays in the D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum at the Tayside Medical History Museum.
A unique collection of artists’ books is in Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design and there are artworks displayed across the campus.
The Tower Foyer & Lamb Galleries display around 12 exhibitions a year which feature highlights from the university's collection. Many of these are by former students and staff of the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, as well as other Scottish painters.
The D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum is home to the work of artists who were inspired by the ground-breaking ideas of its founder, D’Arcy Wentworth Thompson. This collection was acquired as part of the Art Fund's Renew scheme (see below).
The Artists’ Book Collection is housed within the Visual Research Centre at Dundee Contemporary Arts. It contains around 700 books by both Scottish and international artists, including Andy Warhol, Bruce Maclean, Ian Hamilton Finay, Douglas Gordon, Julian Opie and David Shrigley. Visits are by appointment only.
