The Atkinson
Southport's art collections are housed at the Atkinson, a new cultural venue that also covers dance, drama and music.
The art gallery has almost 3,000 works from the 17th to the 19th centuries. Among them you'll find pieces by Henry Moore, LS Lowry, Walter Sickert, John Collier, Frank Brangwyn and the Scottish Colourists. The decorative arts collection is extensive, and there's a new contemporary Craft and Design gallery. In October 2014 the new Egyptology Collection opened, housing the Goodison Egyptology Collection, which had been in store for 40 years. The new Between Land and Sea museum tells the story of Sefton's coast.
