The museum collections include portraits of medical personalities from the 16th century onwards by some of Britain's most eminent artists and sculptors; rare medical instruments and artefacts including the Symons collection and the Victor Hoffbrand collection of apothecary jars and ceremonial silver.
Collections are displayed throughout the acclaimed Grade I listed 1960s building designed by Sir Denys Lasdun, which also hosts temporary exhibitions. The archive and rare books library are open to researchers by appointment.
