Gwynedd

Free entry

This massive 19th-century fantasy castle, crammed with spellbinding objects, was built for the wealthy Pennant family.

The castle retains its Victorian kitchens, walled garden and servants' rooms, as well a model railway and superb collection of 19th and 20th century dolls.

Permanent collection

Home to one of the finest art collections in Wales, the castle holds paintings by Palma Vecchio and Canaletto. Artefacts include a one-ton slate bed made for Queen Victoria and hand-made Chinese and William Morris wallpapers.
