The local history museum for the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, set in a splendid 1710 Queen Anne building.
The museum explores the history and heritage of the surrounding area through its collection of archaeological finds, archival documents and photographs and works by local artists.
Permanent collection
The museum's collection is presented in a series of permanent displays covering social history, maritime and industrial heritage. The Saxon Princess exhibition is particular highlight, featuring some of the finest Anglo Saxon finds from Northern England and a reconstruction of a Royal bed burial from the seventh century.
