A regional art gallery of national importance occupies this 19th century former Town Hall in Dumfries and Galloway.

The Kirkcudbright Artists’ collection, housed at the Kirkcudbright Galleries and on permanent display there, is one of Scotland’s nationally significant collections, recognised as among the best holdings of art and antiques in the country.

Spanning over 600 works of fine art, illustration, books, decorative art, silverware and furniture, highlights include paintings by the Faed family, Charles Oppenheimer and Samuel Peploe, as well as silver jewellery designed by Jessie M. King for Liberty of London.

The permanent collection is displayed alongside a range of temporary exhibitions year-round, with the galleries occupying a former Town Hall, built in 1879. Now also home to an award-winning café serving local produce and a gallery shop, Kirkcudbright Galleries reflects the rich artistic heritage of Dumfries and Galloway, a region that’s been a draw for painters for over 200 years.
