The Higgins Bedford is temporarily closed until further notice. Please check the venue's website for the latest details.
A museum dedicated to exploring the history and culture of Bedford.
The Higgins Bedford unites three previously separate venues – Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford Museum and Bedford Gallery. Joining the buildings has increased the space for temporary and touring exhibitions as well as making more room for permanent displays.
Permanent collection
The museum is home to the Cecil Higgins Collection of fine and decorative arts, which features work by the designers William Burges and Edward Bawden.
Other displays celebrate the stories of local residents – both past and present – as well as the history of Bedford's development and the town's relationship with the wider world.
