Frogmore Paper Mill is temporarily closed until further notice. Please check the venue's website for the latest details.

The birthplace of paper’s industrial revolution, this working paper mill takes visitors through paper’s 2,000 year history.

Chosen as the site for Henry and Sealy Foundrinier’s newly-patented paper machine, Frogmore Paper Mill is the oldest mechanised paper mill in the world. The first place to produce cheap, plentiful paper, the mill changed the course of history.

Today, visitors can see paper produced by hand and have a go at making their own sheet to take home. Guided tours reveal the paper’s origins 2,000 years ago, the transition from handmade processes to machines, and the fibre science that makes mass production possible.

Home to a gallery hosting local and national artists, as well as touring exhibitions and archive displays, the mill also boasts a cafe with riverside views in the former storage sheds, a well-stocked shop and a programme of special events including theatre, craft fairs, street food markets and more.
