A spectacular late 17th-century house built by government administrator William Blathwayt, containing his superb collection of Dutch paintings, Delft ceramics, tapestries and furniture.

The interiors are a mixture of styles, ranging from the original Dutch-inspired rooms and furnishings to Victorian and wartime refurbishments. Mr Blathwayt's apartment gives a taste of what life was like in the 17th century, and is designed to appeal to all the senses. The house is surrounded by gardens, atmospheric terraces and an extensive 270-acre deer park.

Permanent collection

There is a superb collection of paintings by artists including Hoogstraten, De Heem and Murillo. Other highlights are opulent Delft ceramics, rare tapestries, furniture and books.
