Commissioned by ironmaster William Crawshay II to overlook his ironworks, Cyfarthfa is the most impressive monument of the industrial 'Iron Age' in South Wales.

The collections cover Merthyr's rich social and industrial history. There are also ceramics, Egyptology, natural history and an art collection including works by Penry Williams, the 'Welsh Turner'.

Opening times

From August 3rd our updated opening hours are:

Monday - Sunday 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. - last admission 3.45 p.m.

Entrance is through the front door or via the courtyard to avoid the steps.

The cafe onsite is currently closed but there is a cafe in the park grounds open daily from 11.30 - 4.30
