Chapter is a multi-artform arts centre that produces, presents and promotes international art, live performance and film in a vibrant social space.

For almost 50 years Chapter has been the heartbeat of creativity in Cardiff. As one of the first arts centres in the UK, it has brought together different artforms under one roof, centred around an open, accessible space.

It has introduced Cardiff audiences to significant contemporary artists such as Rosie Wylie, Larissa Sansour, Helen Johnson, Monika Sosnowska and James Richards, and continues to support independent creatives on a local, national and international level.

With a year-round programme of exhibitions, films, activities, events and a lively café bar serving up delicious food and drink, there is something for visitors of all ages and more than 800,000 visitors are welcomed through its doors each year.

Chapter Arts Centre is currently crowdfunding through Art Happens to raise money for the conservation and relocation to Wales of an iconic sculpture by Garth Evans.

Chapter Arts Centre needs your help to raise £18,000 to restore a forgotten sculpture from acclaimed artist Garth Evans and return it home to Wales.

In 1972 influential British artist Garth Evans created a large-scale sculpture that was sited in Cardiff City Centre for six months. It was part of the Peter Stuyvesant City Sculpture project, which saw 17 new works placed at the heart of eight cities across England and Wales. The project was a significant chapter in the history of public art and urban space.

Afterwards, the sculpture was relocated to Leicestershire where it has remained hidden, neglected and unseen by the public ever since. The years have taken their toll, and its condition is now rapidly deteriorating.

We need your help to restore this important work and return it to its original location in Wales almost 50 years after it was first seen.
