Galleries and museums make the perfect date

Looking to impress a new love? British singles are using a love of art to attract a potential partner.

To coincide with our new autumn campaign which encourages the British public to experience great art, research we've conducted into UK dating habits shows art could play an important role for someone looking for love.

Almost half of all singletons say a knowledge of art could make someone appear more attractive and a third of women say they would love to visit an art gallery or museum on a first date, and this choice of venue would be likely to lead to a second encounter.

So to the help the great British public on their quest for love, we've come up with 10 arty dates for those looking for love to impress a potential partner with. Also, don't forget to download the free Art Guide app (available on iOS, Android and Windows devices) to discover great art on your doorstep.

For two days we’ve partnered with dating app happn to encourage Londoners to fall in love with art this autumn, download the app and see who you cross paths with: profiles include Rossetti's Monna Vanna and a portrait of Elizabethan poet and musician John Donne.
