Explore the cult status of legendary dancer and choreographer Michael Clark, one of the most innovative artists in the history of contemporary dance.

It’s Clark’s unique blend of classical ballet, contemporary dance and the London punk, fashion and club scenes that has left such a stamp on the world of dance. By bridging the gap between dance and the more vibrant world he inhabited in his own life, he was able to bring performance, reality and extravagance together, introducing dance to a wider audience.

The exhibition includes a treasure trove of film, photography and materials from his performances as a dancer and choreographer, following his most memorable collaborations across the visual arts, music, fashion and film.

The V&A’s Scottish home in Dundee is a fitting place to host this exhibition, as Michael Clark was born and raised in Aberdeen in the 1960s – his love of dance began with traditional Scottish dancing at the tender age of four. The exhibition explores his journey from young dancer in Aberdeen to acclaimed choreographer and cult icon.
