Sophie Taeuber-Arp challenged the boundaries between art and design through her pioneering multidisciplinary modern art.

In the first retrospective of the artist’s work in the UK, the exhibition brings together a collection of her major works, most of which have never been seen in this country until now.

The works on display will demonstrate how she toed the line between crafting and making and modernist abstraction. Her work was incredibly varied in form and there will be works including embroidery, painting, sculpture, magazines, puppetry and Dada objects to browse.

A somewhat controversial artist of her time due to the eclectic nature of her practice, Sophie Taeuber-Arp is now considered one of the foremost artists and designers of the 1920s and 30s. Her enduring influence continues to inspire modern artists today.
