The Pastel Society is recognised as a leader in its field, showcasing the work of established and early-career artists who work within the medium.

Artists use these techniques for vibrancy of colour, vitality and immediacy. You can expect to see a range of varying approaches to working with pastel, pencil, chalk and charcoal on display here, celebrating the breadth of possibilities when working with these simple materials.

  • You will need to book a timed ticket online before visiting the gallery

  • Gallery Staff will be wearing face coverings unless they are exempt

  • Toilet facilities are cleaned more regularly

  • The bookshop has been condensed and offers a select range of books and gifts
  • Any payments will be by card, contactless where possible
  • To contribute to the government’s Test and Trace system, we will be collecting and storing visitors’ data for 21 days
