This exhibition has now closed, find out what else is going on at Ashmolean Museum

The Ashmolean celebrates remarkable Pre-Raphaelite work on paper, selecting rarely seen works from their permanent collection.

This exhibition offers an intimate glimpse into the world of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, featuring the work of multiple artists associated with the movement including Edward Burne-Jones, Holman Hunt and Gabriel Rosetti.

Sketches, preparatory drawings and finished works will be on display, featuring portraits, depictions of historical figures, works inspired by literature and gorgeous landscapes. The Pre-Raphaelites sought originality and authenticity, taking their inspiration from art and poetry, nature and beauty. Their innovative approach to characteristic styles had a huge impact on the world of art as it developed into the 20th century.
