Melanie Tomlinson's intricate sculptures explore the ‘edgelands’ where city meets countryside and the urban folktales this concept evokes.
In her most significant show to date, Melanie Tomlinson revisits the haunts and stories of her youth in Birmingham. She captures memories that she's held onto for years and that have become part of her personal story.
The pieces that she has created are intricately constructed creations of found, created and kinetic elements. Melanie uses a wide range of techniques to make the individual elements of the works from silversmithing, ceramics and glasswork, to lasercutting and colour-printing onto wood and metal.
*Please note until at least 5 June, access to the exhibition spaces at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre is by a pre-booked timed ticket only. Book your general admission ticket through ArtTickets.
