Museums and galleries across the UK are subject to temporary closures. Those that remain open have safety measures in place, please remember to check venue guidelines before visiting.

Dive into the world where real and magical creatures collide.

Explore how real-life wonders of the natural world have inspired the creation of the fantastic beasts featured in myths, legends and stories. And, learn about the integral work of scientists, who much like JK Rowling’s loveable Newt Scamander™, work tirelessly to preserve and cherish the existence of our beautiful creatures.

Fearsome dragons, elusive sea monsters and adorable nifflers are just some of the fantastic beasts whose origins in real creatures are explored.

While the doors to the Natural History Museum remain closed, you can still visit their dazzling Fantastic Beasts™ exhibition via the mighty Google Arts & Culture portal online. Here you can enter a virtual tour of the exhibition and get up close to the objects, costumes and artefacts on display, have a fantastic beasts game night, make your own magical creatures or learn more about the mythical creatures through history.
