This exhibition presents work from the Cambio project, an ongoing investigation conducted by Italian design duo Formafantasma into the timber industry, commissioned by the Serpentine Galleries.

Designers Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin, who make up the duo Formafantasma, explore the evolution of the timber industry, its expansion across the world and the impact it has on the planet’s biosphere in the project Cambio.

Cambio, from the medieval Latin cambium (to change or exchange), seeks to highlight the crucial role design can play for the environment and raising awareness around climate change and ecological issues. Through their work, the duo look back at the history of particular materials used by humans to find the patterns of supply chains, looking at the future of that material’s survival in relation to human consumption.
