An exhibition of work by artist, Lesley Banks which beautifully captures the magnificent coastal and inland waterways of Scotland.

In contrast to the calm surface-water of canals, these vast coastal vistas offered Lesley a very different challenge. Dramatic rocky jagged outcrops stretch out to the sea at Castle Lachlan in Argyll. The rhythmic sound of the waves a constant background hum to the seagull screams.

Morning entry session 10am - 12 noon

Afternoon entry session 1pm - 3pm

All visitors to leave at the end of their time slot to allow for museum cleaning.

We welcome back all our visitors but have made some changes for your safety.

  • Face coverings must be worn at all times indoors, this includes the shops, cafe and tram.
  • Trace and Protect in place. You must provide a name and contact number for your visit.
  • The museum has Visit Scotland Good to Go acreditation.
  • A one way system in operation in exhibition spaces, please follow the signs.
  • The mine is currently closed.
  • Tram will be restarting in late-September.
  • Cafe is open for take away, out door seating available.
  • Open Wednesday to Sunday.
  • Changing place and toilets in Exhibition Hall open with regular cleaning.
  • Entry tickets are valid for date and times listed only. No re-entry.
  • From 14 September 2020 the Scottish Government has stated only up to six people aged 12 + from two households may meet outdoors/indoors. Please adhere to this when booking and meeting at the museum.
