This is a new annual season dedicated to showcasing the best of new and local art.
Changing every two weeks, Chippenham Museum's temporary exhibition gallery will host an exciting programme of specially curated displays.
The session will launch with A Decade On - Drawing and Sculpture by Sarah Purvey. Spanning 10 years of creativity, this exhibition, brings together new works, with loans from public and private collections, to showcase Sarah Purvey’s continual development and evolution as an artist. Based in Calne, Sarah Purvey creates powerful, sculptural ceramics which combine monumentality and subtlety to unique effect. Her sculptures and drawings are united by a bold and confident use of mark making, and their expression of the inner journey and personal landscape of the artist.
Other exhibitions in the season include:
Enchanted: the Magic of Nature, which presents nature at its most magical. Gold, silver and other precious metals prevail in the work of local artists and designers who explore landscape and nature in their work.
Doreen Heaton Potworowska (1930-2014) shows how the artist's marriage to her teacher, the Polish artist Peter Potworowski, influenced her abstract paintings.
Perception: Viewing the World Differently brings together for the first time the work of Rachel Heard, Laura Kirkpatrick, Sam Perry, Celia Smith and Chris Warren. Through painting, sculpture and drawings made using a typewriter, this exhibition invites the viewer to think again about the world around them.
The session closes with displays by local community groups and the work of Chippenham and District Artists.
