Take a glimpse into the archive of sculptor Peter Thursby which was acquired by the museum in 2015.

Thursby is best known for abstract sculptures that challenged semi-abstract and figurative work. During his career, his work evolved from brutal totemic forms to elegant and poised aluminium sculptures.

This exhibition features a selection of works on paper – drawings that were preparatory sketches for his sculptures and which capture the essence of his work. The exhibition also includes a small number of sculptures, which illustrate the technical prowess of this talented artist.
