The Rusland Movement draws inspiration from the Arts & Crafts Movement to create beautiful furniture inspired by nature.
This is the first time The Rusland Movement, based in workshops on the edge of the Lake District, has been exhibited in a museum setting. The unique pieces of furniture are on display in Blackwell’s Arts & Crafts home setting, reimagining how the house would have been when the Holt family lived there in the early 20th century.
The team of dedicated craftsmen and women at The Rusland Movement combine traditional techniques and innovative thinking to create flawless pieces that blend the design aesthetic synonymous with the Arts & Crafts Movement with contemporary style.
In the exhibition visitors can explore how pieces of furniture that are destined to become heirlooms are sketched, realised in 3D models and crafted in the Cumbrian studio just 20 minutes from Blackwell. Spotlight displays in the Main Hall, White Drawing Room and bedrooms showcase the very best in contemporary Arts & Crafts design, alongside stories of Blackwell’s own influence on their creations.
