Ollie Dook: Of Landscape Immersion
28 July – 30 September 2018
Emerging artist Ollie Dook’s first outdoor site-specific installation explores how zoos mimic the natural habitat of animals.
Looking to Jupiter’s landscape and the animals that call it home, Dook has created a new work depicting the contained boundaries that form our visitor experience.
Reflecting on parallels shared in zoo enclosures, fabricated microclimates and imagery drawn from the BBC series Planet Earth, Dook has constructed a sculptural enclosure that both mirrors our experience of observing nature’s forces while positioning us – the audience – as a spectacle to be observed.
