This exhibition charts the development of the St Albans district from the pre-Roman era settlement to the modern bustling city it is today.

Iron Age Coin

This fascinating story starts as far back as 110,000 BC – when hunter-gatherers first arrived in Britain – and reveals St Albans’ role in many of the transformative events of British history.

Learn more about Boudicca's major uprisings against the ruling Romans at Colchester, London and Verulamium. Then discover what impact the Battle of St Albans had on the War of the Roses and see how these events created the city as we know it today.
